Safeguarding minister Jess Phillips says the rollout of new Domestic Abuse Protection Orders is making a “real difference”, after more than 1,000 victims were safeguarded during the pilot scheme

Over a thousand victims have been safeguarded through stricter controls on domestic abusers tested during the past year.

Domestic Abuse Protection Orders have been piloted since last November in certain areas across the country before a planned nationwide implementation.

The orders enable courts to impose conditions for whatever duration is necessary to safeguard victims of all types of domestic abuse , including financial abuse, coercive control, stalking and "honour"-based violence.
