Workers saw an unexpected and disturbing sight on their way to work on Tuesday and immediately called the emergency services to save the life of a baby girl

A group of farmers were left in shock and horror when they discovered a tiny baby had been "ditched" in a hole on a rural plot of land.

The newborn, who still had her umbilical cord attached, was found in a field and is fighting for her life after she was allegedly abandoned in the middle of the night. Horror images showed how the unclothed baby was lying on her back and looking up from the soil, while almost dying from the cold, on Tuesday. Local workers, in Sao Mateus, in the Espirito Santo state of Brazil , said they heard crying while on their walk to work.
