DULUTH — That open-pit ore mine leaves no doubt where "Stone Creek Killer" is set, but the city isn't named Chisholm.

Stone Creek looks a lot like Chisholm, though its apparent scale makes that city of 4,700 look like a metropolis. Everybody in Stone Creek drinks at the same bar, even the people who absolutely hate each other. Where the Chisholm Police Department has over a dozen officers, the Stone Creek PD has only a few — and has been threatened with elimination.

"County coming through here once a day is more than enough," declares Donald (Robert Enriquez), a Stone Creek resident whose feelings about the city cops are colored by the fact that the chief, Karl (Clayne Crawford), helped Donald's wife escape their abusive relationship.
