BEAUMONT, Texas — A record 2,630 runners had already registered by Wednesday for Thursday's 35th annual Turkey Trot, according to organizers. The number had climbed to 2,700 by Thursday morning. This surpassed last year's 2,456 signups , and runners enjoyed clear skies and 45-degree temperatures for this year's event in downtown Beaumont.

The Sea Rim Striders Run Club organizes the Thanksgiving Day tradition, which features 5K, 10K, and kids’ races on USATF-certified courses through downtown streets.

The run raises money for a different charity each year. This year's event benefits Vidor Hope House , a nonprofit residential program that helps women overcome addiction, incarceration, and adversity by providing tools and support for self-sufficiency. 12News spoke to Brandi Hensley,
