AUSTIN, Texas — Thousands of people signed up for this year's 35th annual ThunderCloud Subs Turkey Trot in Austin, marking a new record number of participants.
The race saw 26,000 sign-ups and was held early Thursday morning at The Long Center for the Performing Arts in Downtown Austin.
The turkey trot kicked off at 8:25 a.m. for wheelchair participants, followed by an 8:30 a.m. start time for the 5-mile run. It also included an event with Stepping Stone School Kids K, along with an untimed 5-mile run and a 1-mile run/walk.
One runner this year was 72-year-old Barbara Fellman, who has been participating in the race for 20 years.
