A SCOTTISH Labour MP spent nearly £1500 of taxpayers’ cash on camera kit to film social media videos, The National can reveal.

Glasgow South MP Gordon McKee charged the public purse £1479 for a camera lens and other equipment.

His expense claim was initially queried by the parliamentary authorities, according to correspondence seen by this paper.

Details of a call obtained through a Freedom of Information request showed that McKee was advised he could claim for the expense if he “thinks this is needed and is for parliamentary work and there is space in [the] budget”.

He was also advised to “consider value for money, as they can return it, and publication”.

The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (Ipsa), which monitors MPs’ expense claims, was then told by McKee’s office that
