The National Weather Service issued a lake effect snow warning at 12:36 p.m. on Thursday in effect until Saturday at 1 a.m. for Potter County.
"Heavy lake effect snow. Additional snow accumulations between 2 and 8 inches. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph," can be anticipated according to the weather service. "The heaviest snow will fall later tonight and Friday."
"Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday evening and Friday morning commutes," describes the weather service. "During lake effect snow, the weather can vary from bands of locally heavy snow to dry weather just a few miles away. Visibilities can also vary greatly. Be prepared for rapid changes in weather, visibility, and road conditions."
