RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) — A Richmond woman is sharing her story of surviving pancreatic cancer, a disease that is often caught at advanced stages when treatment options are limited.
Linda Burchett, a wife, mother and grandmother, can now add cancer survivor to her list of roles after battling pancreatic cancer that began in 2013.
Her journey started with what she thought was indigestion after a steak dinner.
“I had a steak dinner and that night, I thought I was having indigestion and by two in the morning, the pain had started radiating around to my back and I realized that probably wasn’t a good thing,” Burchett said.
She went to the hospital that night and was diagnosed with pancreatitis. Further testing at a pancreatic clinic revealed the cancer diagnosis.
