CHICO — The crowd surrounding the Run for Food finish line roared as Tryon Jardin once again was the first to complete the annual 5K, beating last year’s time by almost 10 seconds.

Jardin ran through the now iconic green and black archway in roughly 15 minutes and 43 seconds for his third in a row competing in the race.

“I started running in middle school,” said the Chico native and current student at the University of Nevada. “Now I’m a senior in college, so close to 10 years.”

Jardin said he comes back to Chico during the Thanksgiving break to see family and friends.
