At least 94 people have been killed in a high-rise apartment complex fire in Hong Kong as firefighters worked to prevent a embers from flaring up.

The number of people trapped or missing in the deadliest fire in the city 's modern history is unclear.

The Associated Press reported that more than 70 people were injured, including 11 firefighters, while around 900 people were evacuated to temporary shelters overnight.

“Our firefighting operation is almost complete,” said Derek Armstrong Chan, deputy director of Fire Services Operations.

Chan said firefighters were working to prevent debris and embers from flaring up.
