Archie McCaig is fighting for a refund from Manchester Airport after he complained he was handed a £25 charge for parking in its barrierless zone for just four minutes

A motorist has become embroiled in a bitter parking row with a major airport after he was charged a double-digit sum for staying for just a few minutes to pick up his family.

Archie McCaig, 63, claims he was charged the sum after stopping at Manchester Airport's Terminal 2 barrierless pick-up zone for four minutes on November 21. He arrived at 8.23am to pick up his nephew and family after their return from a Florida holiday, and was driving away from the zone when he hit traffic.
