BATTLE CREEK, MI – Six weeks after Italian candymaker Ferrero finalized its purchase of the W.K. Kellogg Co., the mood at a Battle Creek economic forum was one of cautious optimism.

“We’ve been preparing for change, and we’re going to continue that momentum,” said Joe Sobieralski, head of Battle Creek Unlimited, the area’s economic development agency.
