A FORMER LibDem minister has said God Save the King s hould be ditched as the UK's national anthem.

Norman Baker told GB News the anthem is not appropriate because it excludes republicans and people who do not believe in God.

Baker, who was a minister in the Tory-LibDem coalition government, made the point while speaking about his new book Royal Mint, National Debt: The Shocking Truth About The Royals' Finances, which scrutinises how the Royal Family is funded and suggests reforms.

Baker, an MP from 1997 to 2015, said that it was time the UK reconsidered its commitment to singing God Save the King on national occasions.
