A Scottish man who has been detained abroad for eight years has been moved to a prison British courts have "found to be so dangerous people may not be extradited and held there".

Jagtar Singh Johal, 38, from Dumbarton , was arrested in India in 2017 shortly after his wedding and has remained in custody ever since. This is despite a United Nations panel ruling in 2022 that his detention is arbitrary.

Earlier this year, he was acquitted of charges related to allegedly financially supporting a terrorist group. However, he still faces federal charges under Indian law.

Johal was recently moved from Mandoli Prison in New Delhi to Tihar Jail, which is also in the Indian capital.
