LAKEWOOD, Ohio -- Armed with Lakewood’s Climate Action Plan goal of achieving 95% organic material trash diversion to composting by 2030 and reducing food waste generation by 50%, City Council members are currently considering a resolution to institute citywide composting.

While the topic has been discussed for a while, Council-at-Large Angelina Hamilton Steiner said talking this summer with community members the notion gained steam.

“We’re working with the administration to determine approximate costs, scope and potential for a large-scale rollout,” she said.

“We’re working to reach out to the other communities to get additional information on their scope, sites, costs, etc. The city is also looking at grant opportunities to support this program.”
