Rushing out to your car on a frosty morning only to find it covered in ice, is one of the most annoying feelings. It's cold , you're probably not in the best of moods, and all you want is to get to work so you can finish up and head home quicker.
But whatever you do, resist the urge to use boiling water from the kettle to defrost your vehicle , as this could cause unseen damage. Green Flag cautions : "It may seem logical that hot water will melt the ice, but if the water's too hot, it could cause your windscreen to crack. Also, the water may spill on the ground and freeze, forming a dangerous patch of ice."
