PITTSBURGH —

Shoppers at South Hills Village Mall eagerly awaited the opening of doors at 6 a.m. on Black Friday, braving frigid temperatures for hours to secure the best deals of the holiday season.

Jen Hurrell, from Bridgeville, was first in line at Target waiting for the chance to get some discounts.

"Hopefully, a lot of Christmas shopping," Hurrell said. "There's Legos and stuff on sale, so get a lot of people off the Christmas list today."

The allure of doorbusters drew hundreds to line up outside Target, hoping to receive a swag bag filled with goodies and bigger ticket items.

For many families and friends, Black Friday shopping is an annual tradition that marks the beginning of the holiday season.
