Syracuse, N.Y. - Syracuse firefighters responded to two separate fires Friday afternoon, one of which sent a person to a local hospital.

At around 12:15 p.m., firefighters arrived at 2119 Grant Blvd. to find a two-story house with smoke coming from the back and right sides, according to Lt. Jake Moulton.

When firefighters entered the home, the majority of the fire was in the back, Moulton said.

It took firefighters around 45 minutes to extinguish the fire. The house sustained heavy damage, according to Moulton.

One person was transported to Upstate University Hospital, Moulton said. Moulton did not say what the person’s injuries were.

The person is being assisted by the American Red Cross, Moulton said.
