Surprise received grant funding to extend tenant-based rental assistance to help low-income residents.

The Human Service and Community Vitality Department was awarded $207,649 through HOME Investment Partnerships funds for September 2026 through September 2027.

Surprise, Avondale, Chandler, Gilbert, Glendale, Peoria, Scottsdale and Tempe, plus Maricopa County, have previously entered into an intergovernmental agreement to form the Maricopa HOME Consortium to receive, distribute and administer those funds.

The Surprise City Council approved extending the grant agreement at a recent meeting.
