CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - After Thanksgiving dinner, many of us end up with more leftovers than we know what to do with. Instead of reheating the same plate again and again, get creative! I’ll show you some of my favorites.
First step is making sure our leftovers are safe. Try and get them in the refrigerator within two hours after your meal. I try to use small and shallow containers to speed up cooling.
Leftovers stored in the refrigerator are safe to eat for three to four days. Frozen leftovers are best consumed within two to six months. And we want leftovers to reach 165 when reheated.
So, we’ve got leftover turkey. Turkey makes a great base for soups or chili—just add beans and veggies (maybe you had some on a veggie tray), maybe some noodles, and broth to stretch it into a new me
