HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Downtown Hastings had shoppers Saturday as the community celebrated Shop Small Saturday, with residents going store to store to support local businesses despite snowy conditions.
The annual event encourages shoppers to support local businesses on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, following Thanksgiving and Black Friday shopping.
Snow covered roads and sidewalks for parts of the day, but the Hastings community still turned out in strong numbers.
“Oh, it’s incredible. And the Hastings community is just, it’s like no other,” said Kim McKinney, co-owner of Rolling Peach Boutique. “They are always here to support. Whenever we do events, they show up. They’re just, it’s a great community. They really dial in to supporting small.”
