ANN ARBOR – After Michigan hammered Central Michigan 63-3 in Week 3, interim coach Biff Poggi heaped praise onto true freshman quarterback Bryce Underwood.

The No. 1 overall recruit in the 2025 class dazzled against the Chippewas, throwing for 235 yards and a touchdown while rushing for 114 yards and two scores. CMU wasn’t a formidable foe, but the signal-caller of Michigan’s present and future appeared to have arrived on the college scene.

“We need to do a DNA test on him because he could be Batman,” Poggi said of Underwood.

There were no superhero moments, though, from the former Belleville High star on Saturday in Michigan’s regular season finale against its archrival. Underwood threw for a season-low 63 yards on 8-of-18 passing in the 27-9 loss to No. 1 Ohio State.
