Former first minister Humza Yousaf has warned Scotland risks losing a generation of boys and young men to far-right extremists and misogynists. In an exclusive interview with the Sunday Mail the ex-SNP leader slammed successive UK governments for “legitimising and mainstreaming” racist views on immigration. ‌

It comes after statistics this month revealed the number of Scots youngsters referred to the government-led, multi-agency Prevent counter-terrorism programme has doubled. Around 90 per cent of referrals are male - with extreme right-wing views the most common reason for referral. ‌
