STOCKTON, Calif. — City leaders vowed to seek justice for the victims of a mass shooting in Stockton on Saturday night.

The shooting happened just before 6 p.m. during a family gathering at a banquet hall near the 1900 block of Lucile Ave. Four people were killed and 11 others were injured, according to the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office on Sunday.

Three victims were children, ages 8, 9 and 14, the fourth killed was a 21-year-old, officials said.

"It is unfathomable that there are young children who are harmed," said San Joaquin Sheriff's Office spokesperson Heather Brent. "Our hearts go out to those victims and their families and the community."
