An amber weather warning is in force as almost a month's worth of rain was forecast to fall within 24-hours.

Signalling a possible 'danger to life', the Met Office alert comes as heavy rainfall is expected across much of the UK on Monday, December 1.

The amber warning, which covers the majority of South Wales, was in place until midnight.

There are also yellow rain warnings in force in parts of the Midlands - including Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent - today, Monday, December 1.

Stretches of south-west and north-west England and Wale were also covered by the warning, which runs until 3am on Tuesday, December 2.

A similar warning is in place for south-west Scotland, however that expires at 9pm today.
