The WeGo transit agency has now topped 6,000 people enrolled in its new free bus fare program known as “Journey Pass.”
Eligibility is open to anyone already receiving safety net services from Metro agencies, as well as recipients of federal SNAP food stamps. The passes last for 3 years.
Metro and WeGo began adding more enrollment events during the federal government shutdown, with more focus on messaging to SNAP recipients. There have been 40 signup events since the free fare program was created as part of the Choose How You Move transit referendum.
