An area of Merseyside has been hit by power cuts this morning. ScottishPower have said homes in Whiston in the L35 postcode have been affected.

A message on the energy firm's website at8.11am this morning said: "We are aware of a fault in your area. Postcodes affected: "L35 3UH, L35 3UQ, L35 3UU, L35 3UW, L35 3UX, L35 3UZ, L35 3XB, L35 3XD, L35 3XE, L35 3XF, L35 3XJ, L35 3XP."

These postcodes cover Manorwood Drive, Cheswood Close, Caldywood Drive, Littlewood Close, Wexwood Grove, Dean Wood Close and Earlwood Gardens.

An estimated time for when the power will be back on has not been confirmed at this stage.
