A NORTH Sea energy firm is to cut 100 offshore jobs from its workforce, citing the Labour Government’s tax regime.
Harbour Energy said on Monday that an uncompetitive tax regime, coupled with lower commodity prices, have put pressure on the UK oil and gas sector, and forced the company into restructuring – shedding scores of Scottish jobs.
SNP Westminster Stephen Flynn said the announcement was “devastating” for workers and blamed Labour ministers for ignoring warnings from energy bosses.
After a consultation period, which will end in the first quarter of 2025, the jobs are expected to be cut.
Harbour has cut 600 jobs since 2023, will the job losses announced this week to come on top of that.
At the Budget last week, Chancellor Rachel Reeves made no changes to the Energy Profit
