LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Nearly a month since the deadly UPS plane crash and fire , Stooges, a nearby restaurant from the site, is still closed and trying to pick up the pieces from the devastation.
Debbie Self has watched videos of the crash hundreds of times. But it still doesn’t feel real.
“I'm left with no job,” said Self, owner of Stooges Bar and Grill, located on Grade Lane in Louisville. “I'm left with no business. I don't know what to do anymore."
Saying goodbye to something she has spent more than four decades building isn’t easy, she said. But what weighs on her more is thinking about the 40-plus employees at Stooges, many with families counting on them.
“I'm still paying them,” Self said. “They get paid till January. They're so out of sorts right now ... 'We want to go home.’”
