11 freebies and discounts for state pensioners worth £2,530 have been announced for December - including free eye tests and discounted cinema tickets.

Each year, billions of pounds of benefits go unclaimed. As well as Department for Work and Pensions ( DWP ) benefits like Pension Credit and Attendance Allowance, other freebies can include help with energy bills, and discounts on the TV licence.

Pensioners can also get Cold Weather Payment, Council Tax Reduction and help with urgent or one-off expenses. Retirees may also benefit from Housing Benefit, public transport concessions and the Warm Home Discount.

It comes ahead of Triple Lock increases next year, which could see hundreds added onto the state pensio
