OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Mayor John Ewing Jr. rode a trolley along the city’s streetcar construction route Sunday to promote businesses affected by the ongoing work.
The mayor traveled on Ollie the Trolley from the RiverFront to Blackstone, making stops at local businesses including Zen Coffee, The Next Chapter Book Store and Noli’s Pizzeria. The free trolley service is designed to act as if the streetcar is already operational, giving passengers transportation across town.
“I think it is very important that we are intentional about supporting small business,” Ewing said.
The initiative was part of the mayor’s Small Business Saturday event, which was moved to Sunday due to a snowstorm. Ewing partnered with the Omaha Chamber of Commerce to organize the trolley rides.
