A coastal storm system will bring precipitation to Staten Island on Tuesday, with mainly rain expected for the borough. The National Weather Service indicates temperatures will rise overnight Monday, reaching the 40s by Tuesday.

According to the National Weather Service, precipitation will begin early Tuesday morning across the area as a low pressure system moves off the mid-Atlantic coast. While interior areas north and west of New York City may see snow, Staten Island residents can expect primarily rain throughout the day. The rain could become moderate to heavy at times Tuesday afternoon.

Temperatures will reach the mid to upper 40s on Tuesday, with light easterly winds becoming northeasterly at 5-10 mph in the afternoon, then shifting to northerly at 10-15 mph by evening with gusts
