A young mum's family holiday to Turkey quickly turned into a "nightmare" when her two young sons fell seriously ill and were rushed to hospital within days of each other.
Abbey Oakes, 25, from Airdrie, landed in Antalya late on Tuesday, November 25, with her partner, Darrie McGowan, their two boys - Theo, six, and Blake, one - and her parents for their first family trip abroad together.
However, just one day into the holiday, Theo woke up with a high temperature and cough on Thursday morning. His asthma made his condition particularly worrying, leading the resort doctor to immediately send him to hospital.
Doctors diagnosed him with bronchitis and croup. The six-year-old was admitted and put on IV antibiotics, fluids, antihistamines, oxygen, steroids and nebulisers.
