Near North District School Board chairman Jay Aspin says the school board was in “too much trouble, much too deep,” forcing the Education Minister to take over.
Aspin spoke to The Nugget shortly after being informed that the Minister of Education was taking over the school board.
“As a board, we had positioned ourselves to stabilize, but unfortunately, despite the noble efforts of trustees and administration under the circumstances, the board was in too much trouble, much too deep, causing the minister to make his call,” he said Monday morning.
“My heart has always been with the board. It is my sincere hope the minister’s move will right the ship quickly to gain the confidence of our students and parents in particular, as well as our system — that is the prime goal.”
