ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — Two more people died in car crashes over the Thanksgiving holiday period, the Georgia Department of Public Safety reported in its latest update on traffic incidents.

As of Monday morning, there have been 498 crashes across the state, resulting in six total deaths and 236 injuries, the department said.

There have also been 422 DUI arrests, 680 distracted driving citations and 847 seatbelt citations.

Last year, the department reported 684 crashes, which resulted in 17 deaths and 349 injuries, over the Thanksgiving travel period. More than 470 impaired drivers were also arrested and 17,356 citations were issued.
