Richard Henry, Maryland’s inspector general for education, spoke on the incident at Kenwood High School that resulted in a student being put in handcuffs after an artificial intelligence-powered weapon detector identified a bag of chips as a possible gun.

The incident occurred on Oct. 20 when Taki Allen, a student at the school, placed an empty bag of chips in his pocket. Minutes later, Baltimore County police officers arrived with guns drawn.

Henry spoke on the “C4 and Bryan Nehman” show Monday morning. Henry said the Omnilert security system worked correctly after the student’s hand movement raised suspicion.
