As a PWS (person who stutters), I was thrilled to read Gene Monin’s Nov. 17 opinion piece, How James Earl Jones overcame stuttering ‘an inspirational lesson.’ The example of James Earl Jones is one that serves to inspire young people, as well as older people, who struggle with stuttering.
Monin was correct in saying that the obituary articles on Jones upon his death in September 2024 focused on his career and did not give significant attention to the great obstacle he overcame. I wish to direct readers to the cover article of the Winter 2025 magazine of the Stuttering Foundation ( www.StutteringHelp.org ) titled Remembering James Earl Jones, which details the actor’s lifelong struggle with stuttering. The article is available online.
