WASHINGTON — Dame Judi Dench is opening up about the increasing challenges of living with age-related macular degeneration, revealing that her worsening vision has left her unable to read, watch television or even recognize people.
In a recent interview with ITV , the 90-year-old Oscar-winning actress said her eyesight has deteriorated to the point that appearing on camera has become difficult.
“I can’t see anymore,” Dench said. “I can’t recognize anybody now. … I can’t see the television. I can’t see to read.”
Dench appeared alongside longtime friend and former "Macbeth" costar Ian McKellen, telling him she could “see your outline” and identify him only because “I know you so well.”
