Hamas militants were accompanied by Red Cross workers and Egyptian excavator crews to begin a search operation in the northern Gaza Strip on Monday believed to be for the body of an Israeli hostage.
The convoy of vehicles and machinery was seen moving into the Jabaliya area near Gaza City.
Search efforts continue for the two hostages, one Israeli and a Thai national, whose bodies are due to be returned to conclude the first phase of the ceasefire agreement.
The bodies of more than 340 detainees have been sent back from Israel to Gaza as part of the deal.
At least 352 Palestinians have been killed across the territory since the ceasefire took effect on Oct. 10, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry.
