EAST HAVEN, Conn. (WFSB) - An investigation is underway following an incident in East Haven over the weekend.

At around 2:26 a.m. officers were called to the ShopRite Plaza located on Foxon Road after a report of several vehicles blocking the road, performing burnouts, and individuals setting off fireworks, the police department said.

When crews arrived, they were confronted by multiple masked individuals.

Police said one of the individuals sprayed a police officer’s cruiser with a fire extinguisher before throwing the extinguisher at the vehicle as other individuals lit off fireworks.

Other individuals also climbed onto the marked police vehicle and began kicking the cruiser.

Officials said the group’s vehicles that were involved in this incident then fled recklessly and later return
