CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - West Virginia Governor Patrick Morrisey gave an update Monday on the attack on two West Virginia National Guard members in Washington, D.C., last week.
In a press conference Monday, Morrisey says Staff Sergeant Andrew Wolfe is now in serious condition. That’s an improvement from prior updates that had him in critical condition.
Governor Morrisey says Sergeant Wolfe was able to hear and respond to a nurse, and was also able to wiggle his toes.
Wolfe and Specialist Sarah Beckstrom were shot last Wednesday while on patrol in our nation’s capital.
Beckstrom died Thanksgiving Day.
The suspect was taken into custody at the scene.
Wolfe remains in the hospital in Washington. We have a reporter there and will have more on the governor’s comments this evening.
