Minister of Education Paul Calandra told Near North District School Board parents the province has placed the local school board under supervision to “ensure the board is focused on student achievement and not internal dysfunction.”

In a letter addressed to parents and guardians on Monday, the minister stated there are “major problems with how the board is managed.”

“Over the past months, I have heard directly from many of you about the ongoing instability and lack of leadership at the board. I hear your frustration, and I share it,” Calandra stated in his letter.

He stated that after a thorough review, the ministry found “major problems” with how the board is managed.

Some of those major problems included the unauthorized use of the Director of Education Craig Myles’ corporate credit
