Kingston Police are urging the public to be vigilant while online following a report of a recent scam.
According to a news release from Kingston Police, a resident was on social media when they saw a company offering homeowners ways to “decrease their energy bill.”

The individual filled out a form and received a follow-up call where they had to answer questions about the age of their home and various appliances.
The complainant was advised that this program was a “federal initiative” and scheduled an appointment for representatives to attend their home the following day.
The complainant then attempted to find more information about the program and contacted their utilities provider, which was unaware of any such program.
