A former sergeant major who later joined the police force tragically died after a 'thoughtless' dispute over chicken wings, a court has heard.
Paul Ainscough, 57, succumbed to internal injuries two days after being shoved by his drinking mate in a pub beer garden in Leyland. Liam Slack, 34, has been sentenced to four years and two months in prison after pleading guilty to the manslaughter of his friend Paul Ainscough.
Preston Crown Court was told that Paul was a 'kind and generous' friend to Slack, often lending him money. On Saturday, 22 June 2024, the pair were enjoying drinks together in various pubs around the Leyland area.
