GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A Grand Rapids mom who allegedly set her house on fire with her three daughters inside was bound over to trial, a judge decided at a preliminary examination Monday.
The fire began Saturday, Jan. 25. 2024, around 7:30 a.m. at a home in the 900 block of Eastern Avenue SE. Arriving fire crews found the home fully engulfed in flames, with visible, heavy smoke billowing from the windows.
Roconda Singleton, who was 46 at the time, lived at the home. She was standing outside and told firefighters that two of her daughters escaped to a neighbor's home, and one was still trapped inside.
Firefighters went into the home and rescued 12-year-old Shamiya Stewart, who was taken to a hospital in critical condition. She died two days later.
The other two children were treated
