WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) - Millions of dollars worth of apartment renovations are planned for Jefferson County, transforming otherwise vacant and uninhabitable apartments into safe and affordable living spaces.
The housing and community renewal group, Neighbors of Watertown, is getting $2.5 million from the state to fix up rundown apartments within city limits.
If that cash runs out, Neighbors of Watertown Executive Director Reginald Schweitzer says another $2.5 million is available through an independent source. He declined to say what that source is.
“We believe that we’ve got enough funding to do as many as 60 to 80 units here within the city, just depending on how much gets allocated to each one,” he said.
