COLUMBIA, S.C. — Richland County has moved its Voter Registration and Elections Office to Columbia Place Mall as part of an ongoing plan to relocate several government services to the property.
Assistant County Administrator Lori Thomas said multiple agencies will follow.
“In addition to the Voter Registration and Elections Building, Department of Juvenile Justice will be on that same level with them in an adjacent space,” Thomas said. “That is almost complete, as well. So, we should take occupancy there sometime in January or February.”
Construction is also nearly finished on a new 911 center on the lower level. Thomas said the work is mostly done, but technology installation is still underway because of the facility’s complexity. Funding to open and operate the center is expected to b
