SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - Nineteen people have been sentenced to more than 87 years in federal prison combined for a drug trafficking scheme involving thousands of pounds of marijuana that was sold for millions of dollars over a decade, says the U.S. Attorney’s Office Western District of Louisiana.

According to info presented in court, Hikmat Deeb worked with other people, including Brieon O’Neal and Andrew Brown, to distribute marijuana in north Louisiana from 2012 until the time of Deeb’s arrest in September of 2023. Officials say they got the marijuana from the West Coast and were found to be in possession of large amounts of cash at airports in Dallas, Los Angeles, and Seattle. The U.S. Attorney’s Office says Deeb admitted the cash was to buy large amounts of marijuana.
