The mayor of Bogalusa, who was indicted and accused of malfeasance in office, entered a plea in his state case Monday morning.

Truong entered a not guilty plea in connection with the charges. According to the St. Tammany Parish District Attorney's Office, his next court hearing is Jan. 14.

The judge allowed Truong's bond conditions from his earlier arrest to be transferred to his current indictment.

Truong's attorney, Billy Gibbens, issued the following statement following the hearing:

“Today, we moved one step closer to clearing Mayor Tyrin Truong’s name of these baseless charges,” said Gibbens. “Mayor Truong is innocent, and we are eager to have our day in court.”
