LOUDON COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) - The Loudon County Sheriff’s Office said crews from multiple agencies were on the scene of a deadly crash Monday night.

According to Cpl. Cody Bengel, the crash happened on I-40 East near mile marker 366. TDOT’s SmartWay said the crash was reported at around 6:41 p.m.

While information regarding the crash is limited, Bengel confirmed that it was deadly, adding that it shut down the eastbound lanes. As of 7:25 p.m., the eastbound lanes and one westbound lane is shut down while crews work to clear the scene.

Bengel said there’s no estimated time for when the interstate will reopen, and he warned drivers to look for alternate routes.
